Products, products and more products! Even though I’m a reformed product junkie I still have the urge to try a number of products. I think I’ve come up with a regimen that suits me, you always wanna try the new ‘it’ product — just in case it works better than what I’ve been using.

I’ve been good lately (the latest product was a big bottle of Tresemmé Healthy Volume conditioner – on sale! – and small bottle of Herbal Essence’s Long Term Relationship), but I did spend a few minutes yesterday perusing online to see what’s up and what’s new. So what do I wanna try?

Oyin Handmade‘s Juices & Berries ($18 CDN). It is described as an oil-free mixture of vegetable moisturizers and herbal essences, with a juicy, fruity scent. It’s supposedly perfect for moisturizing and detangling. Seeing that I’m putting in braids in four weeks, I thought about using this as a braid spray. I’ve heard good things about Oyin, but a lot of their products are made with coconut, so I can’t try them out. I know, $18 is steep for braid spray, but that’s why this is a product junkie post.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil ($12 CDN for 4oz). The blogs are hot with praise for JBCO. I use your regular, run-of-the-mill castor oil in my hair and I like it. Some of the ladies online say that JBCO strengthens better and also removes impurities from your scalp. It has a nutty scent and a rich, dark colour. Now, I don’t know if this will work any better than the clear castor oil that I’ve been using for the past five months… but I’d sure like to test it!

Kinky Curly Curling Custard ($40 CDN for 16oz). Sigh. I’ve heard many a person online sing the praises of KCCC. But, good grief, check the price. It’s cheaper than Miss Jessie’s products, but dang! It’s hard for me to do more than dream of playing with KCCC because the price is limiting and I know my cheapie Pro-Styl gel works wonders. But, because I’ve heard so many good things about KCCC, I may just have to break down and purchase it. If it doesn’t work, the Kinky Curly people will get a sternly-worded email.

Mixed Chicks Leave-In Conditioner ($26 CDN for 10oz). Some folks love it. One of my friends hated it. I don’t know how I feel about it — besides wanting to try it. I’ve been looking for a good leave-in conditioner. Currently, I’m using Infusium 23, but as the weather cools down and it gets drier outside, I’m thinking I may need something richer. Could Mixed Chicks be the one?

Finally, Qhemet Biologics Burdock Root Butter Cream and Olive & Honey Hydrating Balm (both $16 USD for 8oz). I wanted to try their Amla & Olive Heavy Cream, but I had a bad experience with amla oil a few months back, so I’m leaving that alone. Qhemet has a good online reputation and, from what I’ve read, the products are well-made and do what they say they are going to do. Always a plus when shelling out oodles of money plus shipping costs to buy something.

Maybe I’ll give myself a Thanksgiving present or an early Christmas present… I have a feeling at least one of these products will be entering my life shortly. So, readers, have you tried any of these products — what are your thoughts? Are there any products out there that you are dying to try but refraining from buying because you’re scared of falling back into product junkie-ism?
