Today, I’m giving you a quick update on my hair and scalp in its first protective style of the season. As you know, if you’ve been reading, I twisted my hair on October 31 — about two weeks ago. My goal is to wash every two weeks with my Country Rose Soap Co.’s natural liquid shampoo. If that didn’t work, I was going to co-wash one week and shampoo the next.
So far, so good! Today is Day 12 post wash and my scalp is only now starting to act up. Yay scalp! This is the longest I’ve gone without washing in years. I believe I know what the issue is: build-up. Getting rid of coconut-based ingredients could only do so much. Co-washing is great, but I think – and this is only from my experience – if you have scalp issues, you may need to clarify your scalp more often than every now and then. When my hair is not braided up, I’ll have to figure out how often that is – every two weeks or every month and I’ll also have to see if I need to use shampoo of if an apple cider vinegar rinse or baking soda and conditioner is sufficient. We’ll see – if that doesn’t work, I’ll be experimenting again.
This is what I’m planning to do tonight:
- Wash with the Country Rose Soap Co.’s shampoo
- Condition with Organix Vanilla Silk conditioner
- Moisturize with Oyin Handmade’s Juices and Berries
- Oil my scalp with olive oil and castor oil
- Moisturize with Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk
- Seal with Carol’s Daughter Lisa’s Elixir
Let’s see if I can get almost two more weeks out of tonight’s wash.
Hairlista Healthy Ends Challenge
I’m one month into the Hairlista Healthy Ends Challenge that started October 8. There’s nothing really to report on that end – my hair is happily in its protective style and it will be that way until the end of December. Once I take my twists out, I’ll let you all know if I see any changes.
C’est tout, mes cheries! Hope you had a good Wednesday!
