Taking down the twists [INSERT SCREAM HERE]

It feels like I haven’t done a hair post in a while!

Last week, I was complaining about my twists and planning to wait until this weekend to take them out. Well, I couldn’t take it anymore – I had to get them out of my head. They were driving me crazy! So, this afternoon during my lunch break and while I was watching the goings-on on Days of Our Lives (yes, I’ve been watching Days since I was a teenager. It is bare foolishness and I really shouldn’t waste any brain cells watching it, but it’s something to do at lunch) I started pulling and tugging twists out.

Yes, pulling and tugging, because my hair was dry! Normally, the twists, once I get them going, will gently slip out of my hair.

Ha! Not today!

Now, this is not the first time I’ve worn kinky twist extensions. It’s not even the first time that I’ve used this hair. Now, one set of hair that I used was dry and brittle and ended up in the garbage after about six twists because it was so drying. And, I tried using Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk at first – that was much too light – and switched to their Healthy Hair Butter. Granted, I wasn’t the most diligent with moisturizing, but dang! Who would have thought that my hair would be so dry and parched? And good grief it’s grimy! I cannot wait to wash my hair.

As I took the twists out, I spritzed them with some braid spray that I’ve had for forever and sealed everything with a castor oil, olive oil, jojoba oil mixture to try to replenish some of the moisture I had lost.

I’m only half way through and I’m going to my parents’ tonight for dinner. So, you know I’ll be either be rocking a wig or slapping a hat on all of this and calling it a day.

Have you found that your twists get matted at the root? Is that bad? Mine did.

I didn’t find that they got matted — well, maybe in the back at the nape. I noticed that they were extra dry. Maybe you left them in too long?
