Friday fun: Tarte Limited-Edition Posh Pout Quick Dry & Glossy Lip Set review

Your girl’s been busy. You know when you’re running around and you don’t have time to collect your thoughts. This is where I am right now, but it’s all good.

The regular schedule will be back next week, but to let you know that I haven’t forgotten you, I wanted to share.

I like makeup. I am not a makeup artist or an expert, but I try a ting every now and then. I went to a Sephora makeup event with my sister for the launch of Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty line and launch of all the holiday makeup sets for the season.

I got samples of the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Foundation and will purchase it–but right now, I need more foundation like I need a slap. Anyhow, I am a lover of eyeshadows, so I bought a Tarte Limited-Edition Treasure Box Collector’s Set ($77 CDN). Included in the box was a lip paint and, y’all, I fell in love with their lip paint.

Oh my goodness. I ❤ it–the staying power was amazing. I hate having to reapply lipstick every two minutes. You chew a piece of gum, you reapply. You lick your lip, you reapply. You sip from a straw, you reapply.

It’s annoying.

When you find something that works, you work with it, right? So, when I saw the Tarte Limited-Edition Posh Pout Quick Dry & Glossy Lip Set ($47 CDN), I jumped on it.

Can I say I squealed when I opened the lovely Sephora box. I saw this:

Glossy lip paints: 1) Gifts 2) Cast 3) Crown 4) Eager
Matte lip paints: 5) Valor 6) Spice 7) Reign 8) Novel

Of course, I couldn’t wait to test them out. I’ve only gotten to two of them, but they are so nice and moist. Even the matte lip paint. I tend to have dry lips, so I reject matte lipsticks because my lips look like graters…and I have full lips.

Not a good combo.

With the Tarte lip paints, they looked soft, moist and the colour was really pigmented. Not to mention, I didn’t have to reapply 16 times during the day. Even after drinking my Starbucks’ Peppermint Mocha (which was great by the way).

First, please forgive the grey hairs in my hairline. I am in desperate need of a colour. On the left, (natural light) I tested Gifts glossy lip paint. I had to reapply the glossy more than the matte, but still not as often as some of my other lipsticks. On the right (bathroom light), Spice matte lip paint. I adored this shade–especially for the fall/winter. It was so rich and vibrant. Although I have big kissers, I love bright lipsticks! Oh, and can I say my skin looks glorious?

Overall, I’m super happy with the Tarte brand. I’ve liked all of their products that I’ve tried. So, I will be buying this brand again.

So, what’s your favourite makeup brand? Are you a MAC girl? Or is it Urban Decay? Has Fenty Beauty stolen your heart?
