I’ve been thinking of you!

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve written. I’ve been putting my focus on some other things–like launching my Etsy store–support a sister if you can!–and organizing my house. If you want to keep up with me on a more regular basis, follow me on Instagram.

Anyhow, if you know me–or if you’re following me on Instagram–you would know that I love Christmas. The love of the season was passed down to me from my father. I used to be the type of person who loved going to the mall to do my Christmas shopping.

I used to be.

Now, online shopping is my thing. It’s just more convenient–especially with two little kids that are often with me when I’m out and about. If I can find it online, why frustrate my spirit going into a store to fight with hundreds or thousands of other shoppers who all want the same toy for their child?

Yeah. No.

If I have to be in the stores when they are super crowded stores during the holiday season, let it be a nice experience. So Mom and I had a few minutes to check out Nordstrom (220 Yonge St.). I hadn’t had the pleasure to check out the store since it opened last year.

I can’t afford anything in the store, but the customer service is spectacular. Everyone greeted me with a smile and asked if I needed help. They chatted, told me the particulars of each item I as looking at and left me to peruse after they had said their piece. No hovering. No emphasizing how expensive things were. No ignoring me.

Now, I’ve been in a number of rinky-dink stores and they are the ones where the salespeople are following me around like a criminal or ignoring me.

I mean, I was legit ignored at a Zara store–I know Nordstrom is a different calibre of store, but the Zara salespeople looked at me, rolled their eyes, and went back to their chit-chatting. Rude, as my five-year-old would say.

No disrespect, but it’s Zara. The sweaters are $69 not $699. I can afford everything in that store. Same foolishness has happened at Roots Canada.

I’ve also always received excellent customer service at Holt Renfrew (100 Bloor St. W.), from the doorman to the sales clerks and everyone in between.

I kinda understand why people will spend ridiculous amounts of money at these establishments. I also had a great experience at the Drake General Store (1151 Queen St. W.) last week, when I was frozen because the weather tricked me and had to buy a sweater.

All that being said, I had a great time looking at Nordstrom’s expensive shoes, jewellery and makeup–and being made to feel like a valued customer–although I could barely afford any daggone thing in there.
