What’s hot on the block, people?

Chris Rock is going to be on Oprah this afternoon (September 30) discussing his new film Good Hair. Also on today’s show is R&B singer Solange Knowles (Beyoncé’s little sister) who cut off her weave and, I guess, some hair into a low grow ‘fro or TWA (teeny weeny afro).

Everyone and their mother has been discussing the plight of Black women’s hair since we started hearing about this movie. They’ve been dissecting the politics of hair in the New York Times, chatting about Michelle Obama’s hair and Tyra’s ripping off her lacefront. It’s a different world, folks. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life.

I’m curious to see how Oprah handles this topic. I have my own thoughts on so-called ‘good hair’ — one of the reasons I started this blog — more on that tomorrow. Here’s the film’s official trailer for those of you who haven’t seen it yet:

I heard it’s opening in Canada sometime in October. I’ll be going to see it!
