I met up with The Relaxed Chick today and swapped some hair products with her. Some of the products that I had bought (Cantu Shea Butter Grow Strong Strengthening treatment, Alberto VO5 Hot Protein Moisturizing Intensive Creme treatment, Blended Beauty Volcanic Clean Mask and Dove Heat Defy Heat Activated Protect & Shine Mist) haven’t done much for my natural hair. Hopefully, TRC can take advantage of the products that I didn’t find useful. What did TRC swap with me? I’m very excited — this is what I’m going to play around with:
- Organic Root Stimulator Herbal Cleanse Dry Shampoo – Since I’ve put my twists in, I’m only planning to wash my hair every two weeks. I’m hoping that this will help in between washes and keep my scalp in good working condition. BTW, one week since wash day and I’m doing pretty well. I may try out this stuff tonight or tomorrow and see if I can stretch it out until next Friday.
- KMS Curl Up Bounce Back Spray – It says: “Create the curl of your dreams. This scrunching spray helps retain the recoil in curly or permed hair while adding body, bounce and shine.” We’ll see if this works once the twists are out.
- KMS Flat Out Hot pressed Spray – Another one for after the twists. Here’s the description: Get maximum results from your flat iron, curling iron or blowdryer. Condition. Add shine. Protect against thermal tool heat and humidity. Watch your style hold its shape. Now, I rarely use heat, but we’ll see in the spring if I do straighten my hair… I may loan this to my sister who has relaxed hair and see what she thinks.
- Carol’s Daughter Lisa’s Hair Elixir and Hair Milk – TRC didn’t have much luck with these products, but I’m kinda excited to try out the famous Carol’s Daughter products. I will be using both of these with my twists: the Hair Elixir as an oil treatment and the Hair Milk as a moisturizer.
I’m all about the product swap — why hold on to things that aren’t working if they can potentially work for someone else? I’ll let you know how they work — product reviews to come!
