Product review: Henna Sooq Moroccan Clay shampoo bar

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a couple of shampoo bars, along with some Yemeni henna and amla powder, from Henna Sooq. I normally use Country Rose Soap Co.’s liquid shampoo, but I hate only having one company to rely on. What happens if they stop making the shampoo?

I’m out of luck with a grimy scalp and no shampoo.

While I still like Country Rose Soap Co. and will continue to use their products, I wanted to find an alternative to their shampoo.

So, when I was looking around Henna Sooq and I saw their shampoo bars at the low, low price of $2.50 per sample bar (a full bar is $7.50), I thought, “why not try them out?” I purchased three sample bars, including the Moroccan Clay.

Here’s there description from the Henna Sooq:

Moroccan Clay: Using rich rhassoul clay, aloe vera extract, olive oil, sunflower oil, avocado oil, golden jojoba oil, and lavender essential oil our Moroccan clay shampoo bar is ideal for normal hair to dry hair.

After reading that, you know why I bought this shampoo bar. The bar is small, but it’s definitely enough to give me at least six washes out of it – maybe eight.

I washed my hair and worked the shampoo bar into my scalp. Yum! I must say, this my scalp and my hair began to sing quietly under the deluge of water from the shower. It wasn’t super sudsy, but I got enough suds to make me feel like I’m cleaning my hair. Once I rinsed it, my hair felt extremely moisturized – I get that’s from all the yummy ingredients.

And guess what?

My scalp hasn’t acted up – it’s been behaving itself for a good six weeks now – but washing my hair with the wrong shampoo would definitely cause some problems. Well, I had a clean scalp and moisturized hair.

Yay! I think I found another winner… I think that I may like it even better than my other shampoo. Don’t tell anyone I said that 😉

i find the syrian/greek soap bars made from olive oil (and no palm or coco- oils) have been the best for my scalp as well. i bought aleppo soap from the health food store at six bucks plus for the small bar… then it occurred to me to check the arab market and lo and behold, olive oil soap for a buck forty-nine for a LARGE bar. ingredients: olive oil, sodium hydroxide, citric acid. done. when you run out of yours, you can try one of mine. i bought FIVE of them! LOL
