Tangle Teezer & Shea Moisture to Canada!

There are very few products I can’t get here. Either I can order online or find them in store. Recently, I’ve wanted to get my hot little hands on two: the Tangle Teezer and Shea Moisture products.

Now, I understand that not everything will be locally available and if I want to try out certain products I will have to pay shipping fees. But when you don’t even allow your product to be acquired outside of the U.S., I think that is utter nonsense.

I want to get a Tangle Teezer, but it seems that whatever company that was licensed to sell it here in the Great White North no longer does. Sally’s Beauty Supply here doesn’t sell it and the U.S. Sally’s won’t even give a sister a bly and ship it. Even Amazon won’t sell it to me! Sigh.

And Shea Moisture products! They don’t also aren’t sold in Canada. Why? Your guess is as good as mine. I also can’t order them from Amazon ’cause they won’t ship them. Is there meth in the shampoo? Maybe crack in conditioner?

Chupse.

Start selling the dang products in Canada! Make northern naturals happy!

Hey hun! I hope you’ve been well. if you want, and if you direct me to it, or send them by my place I can bring them with me when I come to TO. I’m heading there for the weekend of March 19th, as we have a natural hair meetup in the plans at Honey Fig. Or I just ship them up there to you. πŸ™‚ It wouldn’t be a problem

Thanks for the offer! I’m supposed to be heading out of town in March, so I’m not sure if I’ll be here on the 19th to meet up with you. I’ll try to find out the dates and let you know for sure! It would be great to meet you in person πŸ™‚

      1. Absolutely! You are MORE then welcome to come by πŸ™‚ Just give me a heads up, but for sure March 18-20th I’ll be in TO as I have a 3 day event weekend. Really excited!

PS Actually I just remembered I saw some of Shea moisture products for sale at Target down in Maryland. It might happen that Target might carry them up there once they take up all the Zeller spots.

I’m hoping so — but I’m not getting my hopes up. Oftentimes, Canadian retailers forget there are people of colour in Canada that would like more than some braid hair and a jar of mineral-laden grease for their hair 😦 We’ll have to wait and see. If not, I’m probably visiting family in the U.S. this summer, so I’ll get to check out some Targets.

      1. MY sister has a huge jar of gel and I am trying to wean her off onto more natural products. I gave her a tub of Miss Jessie’s creamy something, oh yeah meringue. You’re going to Atlanta? There is a HUGE natural hair show on april 31-may 1 st. You should check it out. We’ll be there amongst a lot of other natural hair companies. They get over 30,000

Hey! I’m in Edmonton Alberta so I definitely know where your coming from. I’m excited for Target but for some reason I’m scared they are going to just be a more amped up Zellers and hold out on all the products we are jonesing for.

Exactly! Whenever a U.S. retailer comes to Canada it’s never the same and the prices are not comparable, which sucks!

      1. SG says:

so true, I just don’t understand why they don’t sell these products. I did my research and you can get it at Honey fig in Toronto. I wonder if I was blonde with straight hair I would have to jump hurdles to get certain products…. INTERESTING…

Chupse indeed. I’m getting tired of being deprived of all the fun hair products and tools. I do have some SheaMoisture deep treatment masque (I think that’s what it’s called) that I bought some time ago when I was back home in NY. People LOVE this product, but I’ve tried it 2 or 3 times and my hair just refuses to like it. I have a little more than half the jar left so if you wanted to try it, I can hand it off to you. Let me know.

    1. urbansista says:

I want to try their shampoos. I’m allergic to coconut-based ingredients and supposedly two of their shampoos are completely coconut-free… but I can’t get my hands on them. BOO!!!

      1. It’s like Miss Jessie’s too, either some people love it or hate it. I bought some and it’s a bit more thick, and sticky-ish in a way but it’s working well. Curls is a bit lighter and I like the smell better personally of their whipped souffle. I need more time to decide if they are a hit or miss, but so far they’re both working well.

Honey you need to move to the US, lol….I live in a rural “white” area of washington state…..The walmart in this town don’t even have a “ethnic” section, neither does kmart…Sallys have a small Black hair care section here….So I feel your pain, but in a few weeks, Im moving back to ohio, (Praise God),lol………….

    1. urbansista says:

I’m all for multiculturalism! I am not trying to live in any rural, white areas. Sorry. I need to be able to get my hair products and some good curry goat πŸ™‚

It does stink, there are so many products I read about online that I want to try but can’t find here. I don’t know what the deal is with up here. Even the black-owned store at my mall carries very little selection. At Shoppers, the black hair care section is across from the diapers, so every time I pick some up I just turn around, look at it and sigh. And of course whenever I’m at any beauty store trying to ask for some good black hair products they just look at me like I’m crazy and dismiss my complaints.

We’re hoping to travel to Atlanta this summer, so you can bet I’ll be coming back with boxes of product in my trunk.

    1. urbansista says:

I know that the natural hair community in Canada is small compared to the States. I get that, but at least allow us to purchase things online if companies don’t want to invest in actually sending stock into Canada. Sigh. When I’m in the States this summer you better believe I’m stocking up on products.

  7. Have you tried the bglhonline market place? They’re based in the U.S., their prices are quite reasonable, but they’re usually sold out of quite a lot of stuff!

    1. urbansista says:

That is a very good idea! I’ll have to check it out πŸ™‚ Thanks!

  8. Philomena says:

I know! I have been watching these reviews and it is frustrating that I can’t try the product.

    1. urbansista says:

I know, right? Hopefully they will realize that the natural girls in Canada are interested in new products too!

  9. Rhenia says:

I am a Canadian Natural, the Tangle Teezer is amazing. I have a few Tangle Teezers if people are interested that I will ship to different parts of Canada. If you are interested, we can certainly speak offline. Rhenia

    1. urbansista says:

      1. Rhenia says:

    3. Gladys says:

  14. Crystal says:

So I’ve skimmed through the comments and nobody has mentioned Genesis One. Its in Toronto…Kensington market to be exact. He sells Shea moisture products. I go there all the time.

  15. Crystal says:

Oh and Honey Fig…sheppard and yonge

  16. Shay says:

How much is Genesis One?? I know Honey Fig sells both Shea Moisture and Tangle Teezer but its double the original price. 😦

  17. Anouk says:

    Hi,

We sell Tangle Teezer on our website and it’s shipped from Canada: no duty fees at all! We also have an eBay account. It sells very fast but we still have a lot!
