It’s not a true length check – I was going through some old pictures that I have on my computer and I noticed that my hair has grown. Check out these three pictures – one from July 2010 and another from December 2010:

A lot of growth, huh? Well, at least I think so 🙂 The funny thing with natural hair is that you don’t realize how your hair has grown unless you look at pictures. When my hair was relaxed, it was so much easier to tell if my hair was getting longer just because each time you relaxed it, you could see the growth… or how much it broke.
Let’s not revisit those sad times for me.
Anyhow, I’m pretty happy with how it’s growing. I’ve tried to incorporate some better techniques that seem like they are working. We’ll see in a couple of months when I compare pictures.
Have a great weekend!
It’s so true. I was just saying that to my sister – and then looking back at pics, you’re amazed to see a difference. Especially with the shrinkage that occurs, new styling options take longer to come into affect! I uploaded a few of my ‘length checks’ here: https://picasaweb.google.com/114984482325870788564/HairJourney?authkey=Gv1sRgCObbvNagh9rGSw#
I’m trying my darndest to maintain a protective style all week. Mainly a bun [or twists pulled into a bun], with the front half of my head flat twisted [to to one side, one of the opposite]. So far, so good!
Your hair looks great! I’m going to try to keep up with the length checks every few months, just so I know that I’m on the right track. I’m trying to keep my hair twisted to the week. We’ll see how that goes 🙂
That’s a good amount of growth. And I’m sure it is longer than it looks seeing how kinky hair shrinks. I twisted my hair last night and it was at my chin. By the time I got on my third twist, the first one already sprung up to nose level!
Thanks! That’s the thing with kinky hair — you can’t just tell how much growth you have. Thank goodness for digital cameras 🙂
