I’ve been bored with my hair. That’s why I haven’t been posting as regularly as I once did. I’m not doing very much with it. Since it’s gotten longer, I’ve been doing two-strand twists. Now that my scalp has been behaving (and it has been acting beautifully), I haven’t needed to wash it any more often than every two weeks.
Much of my experimentation was due to my scalp acting the fool and me looking for something to combat it.
I have a pretty strong regimen — it’s simple and straight to the point, which I love — and my hair is reacting well to it. So, really there hasn’t been much to say about my hair.
It’s not that I don’t still love my natural hair. It’s just that, I didn’t really take a break from it for the last few months. So, I decided to do something. I put in some kinky twist this weekend… but with a twist.

The pictures don’t really do it justice. So this is what I did:
- I used Afro Kinky braiding hair to do a number of kinky twists. I did a deep part on the left side
- Once I was done, I set the twist — two apiece — on fuchsia and orange perm rods
- I boiled water and filled a ceramic mug with it
- I dipped each rod in the boiling water for about 10 seconds each
It’s a different look from my regular kinky twists. It’s fuller and I think it suits my face a lot better than when I wear them straight.
What’s nice was yesterday I was in the grocery store picking up some things for my parents and a random woman accosted me in the organic milk aisle to tell me that she liked my hair. She asked me who did it. I said, “I did it.”
She asked, “Do you do hair?”
I said, “No — I’ve only ever done my own.”
She looked sad. She complimented me again and went along her way.
I swear, I got into the wrong line of work.

yeah, that used to happen to me, too… but you know what? i don’t want to be playing up in anyone’s nasty scalp, anyway. LOL
LOL! I never thought about someone’s scalp being potentially nasty. I always felt sorry for my hairdresser because my scalp is a beast when it’s angry. It just made me feel nice knowing that someone else thinks my hair is hawt 😀
Your hair is hawt!!! I think I’m getting bored with mine also. Just yesterday I told hubs that I want to straighten it, his mouth fell to the floor. I was like not that straighten, just heat straighten, he doesn’t want me to go there either, but I might for my June wedding. As for your new profession, maybe I can try again to be your first client in the fall…free of charge though 🙂

Interesting? I’m bored of my twist hair too, also since its been growing like a weed. But, its simple so I stick with it. I would like to try another natural style, but don’t and can’t invest the time right now and I don’t want to flat iron, which takes twice as long to do myself. So I dyed it and was fine with it for 2 months, and of course bored again. May be I should cut it. I don’t know;)
