Just a quick addition to Tuesday’s post. I was watching a Kimmaytube video and she suggested not straightening your hair until you reach your length goal.
Hmm… Interesting suggestion and I think I’m going to take it. The last time I straightened my hair was in November 2010 and I was scared as ever that I was going to damage it. Why put myself through potential heat damage? I can tell if it’s growing when I wash it and through the pictures that I plan to take.
So, I am planning not to straighten my hair until June 2012 at the earliest. Then again, none of this is written in stone. I may change my mind, but the thought of heat damage again (I am still scarred, y’all) is enough to make me wait.

I have never straightened my hair since I’ve been natural. I have that same fear of heat damage, then if I reach my goal, fear that it’ll break off! I only blow dried it once and I wasn’t too comfortable with that either. Call me a fraidy cat. I’ll wait til you do it!
I don’t blame you. When I got my hair straightened my hair professionally last year, unfortunately, I did experience heat damage.
So, now I’m gun shy. I want to see what it looks like, but I’m not going to chance it. When I straighten it, I’m going to do it myself. Not that I don’t trust my hairdresser, but I think I know my hair better than anyone else.
Here, Here! Sry i’m a new sub i’m just jumping onto your recent posts. I just started blogging my hair goal and journey although i’ve been natural since elementary school i didn’t take care of my hair. i’m waiting until BSL to straighten. I’ve blowdried recenlty just to trim but other than that no heat.
Hey! Thanks for subscribing 🙂 Good luck with your natural hair journey. Last time I blow dried was November 2010. I won’t be doing that again for a long time! I think I did more damage than anything blow drying. I have to work on my technique.
